Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok’s Lobby Lounge unveils a new delightful themed afternoon tea “Ginza, Tokyo, 1920s”, carefully curated by the hotel’s new Executive Pastry Chef Christoph Widmer, available from 15 March 2019, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. onwards. Delight in the new Ginza, Tokyo, 1920s’ afternoon tea at the stylish setting of the Lobby Lounge, where guests can enjoy the activities along the beautiful Chao Phraya River. Price is at THB 1,398++ for two persons and includes a grand selection of Sri Lankan teas.

Chef Widmer brings with him his 20-year rich background in the pastry field gained at luxury hotels in several continents. The hybridisation of Japanese minimalism with Western civilisation is present in the Ginza district. Chef Widmer delivers the genuine tastes of local Japanese products through minimalistic presentations.

The “Ginza, Tokyo, 1920s” afternoon tea composes of multi-sensory items for sweet-toothed lovers, including Chestnut Meringues Mont Blanc Cake, the refreshing Strawberry Shortcake made with fresh strawberries from the Togichi Prefecture, Hazelnut Mille-Feuille topped with juicy Satsuma also known as Mikan, Uji Green Tea Castella Cake that uses only the finest green tea from ancient city of Uji, the Japanese’s most favoured Juchheim Baumkuchen or Traditional Layer Cake and Framboise Rose made with lavish Rosé wine and many more delightful delicacies that bring new sensations to the taste buds.
