Malay Poetry Writing Bootcamp

Calling all teens and young adult writers aged 13-20 years old! Be part of this poetry writing bootcamp to learn more about poetry writing in Malay.

Simply submit an original, unpublished poem based on the theme “Snippets and Scribbles” and you’ll earn a spot* at the Malay Poetry Writing Bootcamp that will be held on 15 & 16 March 2022. This bootcamp will be held in Malay and is organised as part of Sing Lit: Read Our World’s year-long literary movement to bring Singapore literature to audiences all day, every day

Entry requirements:
a. This bootcamp is open to participants who are Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents aged between 13 to 20 years old* only.
b. Applicants interested in participating in the bootcamp are required to submit their original short poem(s) (50-80 words per poem), written in Malay with the theme “Snippets and Scribbles”.
c. Submissions should be saved and uploaded as a single PDF file (font: Arial, size: 11pt).
d. Submissions can be made via https://borangpenghantarankarya-kmpm.paperform.co/, where participants’ details and declaration will be required.
e. Applications can be made by an individual or as a group.
f. For solo participation, the participant is required to submit at least one (1) original poem.
g. For group participations, the group should consist of no more than three (3) members and is required to submit at least two (2) original poems.
h. For school submissions with more than five (5) separate applications (individually or as a group), please email us directly at programmes1@bookcouncil.sg to complete your submission.
i. Open call for submissions extended until 27 February 2022, 2359 hrs (SGT).
j. Incomplete submissions will be rejected. Content that is deemed inappropriate or discriminatory in nature will also be disqualified.
k. *Participants under the age of 18 years old must obtain the consent of a parent/legal guardian and by participating in this programme, it is deemed that consent has been obtained.
