Oumi Commemorates Official Launch With Guest Chef Reiko Yoshikawa

Kaarla Restaurant and Bar as well as Oumi welcomed guests through its doors in mid-April 2022, showcasing the best bounty from Australia, Japan, the local farms in Singapore, and the restaurants’ very own ‘backyard’ urban farm – the 1-Arden Food Forest.

Driven by a palpable passion for produce and efforts towards building a community of like-minded partners, the two ‘farm-to-table’ concepts celebrate the culinary artistry and cultures of Australia and Japan with a line-up of events in July and August, starting with a 4-hands dinner at Oumi.

To commemorate Oumi’s official launch, a one-night only 4-hands Dinner will be held on 3 July 2022 featuring guest Chef Reiko Yoshikawa from The Orientalist House and Chef Lamley Chua, Oumi’s Head of Japanese Culinary Development.

Created by The Orientalist Spirits’ mixologist and 1-Arden bar team, commence the evening with two garden-to-glass cocktails at the 1-Arden Rooftop Terrace, inspired by the flavours of Japan and fresh pickings from the 1-Arden Food Forest.

Dinner ensues with a 6-Course Omakase menu ($228++). Savour the confluence of two different Japanese kappo cuisine styles in a sensorial display of the season’s finest – guest chef Reiko will present two dishes imbued with the elegance of her ingredient-forward, Japanese home-style kappo cooking, featuring fresh seasonal ingredients from her personal contacts at Tokyo’s Tsukiji and Toyosu Markets. Chef Lamley follows with two dishes reflecting his outward looking approach to reinventing Japanese classics by incorporating ‘nose-to-tail’ and the use of produce from not only Japan, but also Australia, Singapore, and the 1-Arden Food Forest. Together, they will present two new dishes co-created in a melding of their distinctive kappo cuisine styles.
