World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma began a two-year journey in August 2018 to perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s six suites for solo cello in 36 locations around the world — the music that was among the first he learned when he began playing at age four. Dubbed The Bach Project, it’s motivated by Yo-Yo’s six decade in music and Bach’s 300-year-old music, which serves as one extraordinary example of how culture connects and helps us to build a better future.
With each concert, Yo-Yo and his team partner with local artists, culture makers, leaders from different sectors, as well as cultural and community organisations for collaborations in projects. In Indonesia, the project will partner with ethical fashion label SukkhaCitta for an exhibition called T’angan (more on that here). Tickets are available on Traveloka.
