Self confessed ‘weirdo’ indie kids, Thud are: Kim (vocals and synths), Andy (guitar), Sky (guitar), Wang (bass) and Wai (drums). Thud met in Hong Kong at college and started making their own blend of dream pop.
With a heavy mix of synths and distortion, their first 2 singles ‘Lime’ and ‘Venture’ created international buzz, with rave reviews from NME and Drowned in Sound.
After their first EP, Floret (a true dream pop gem), their sound blossomed into the experimental shoegaze wall of sound perfection that was their next single ‘Prime of Pride’, mixed by Max Bloom of Yuck. Last year ahead of their much anticipated first album, due to be released this summer, they released the blistering single ‘Ado’, mixed by Suburban Studios (Mathew Johnson of Hookworms). Ado sees Thud juxtapose bright and summery synths and guitars with their own characteristically darker lyrics.
”We want to express some kind of fuss in life that is unexplainable and we could not escape from it. Just like the decay of passion on everything. We all could not escape from this melancholic cycle of decay. Musically, “Ado” is faster than our other songs. It may sound upbeat, but contains our general characteristics- a despairing, almost gloomy undertone.”
