Ever since Mark Redito made the splash on the electronic music scene in 2013, he has been evolving. Starting with his masterful debut “Desire” and the many ensuing releases of singles, remixes and collaborations he’s done (with artists varied as 21 Savage to Willow Smith), Redito has constantly explored new sonic territories and expanded the pop and electronic music horizon. All the while, his music has remained honest, vulnerable and relatable, so much so that Pitchfork once admitted in their review, “It takes guts to be emotionally open as Mark Redito.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise though if you’ve been a fan of Mark. Even back when he was known as Spazzkid, his DIY ethos and his dedication to stay connected with his fans through often conversational social media posts and email newsletters let you feel like he was your very own kuya (Filipino for “big brother”). His passion of inclusion and compassion for the underrepresented today extends beyond the URL. 2016 saw Mark focus on community building as he launched Likido concert series, putting spotlights on people of color, women and LGBTQ producers. You might have even been at the most recent Likido show that was hosted at a sold out 1400 capacity Globe Theater in LA.
Recently returning from his successful headlining tour of Asia, Redito’s momentum seems to crescendo even stronger this year with the upcoming release of his highly anticipated new album Neutropical, a collection of songs that again is proving to transmit the signature Mark Redito sound; pure passion that is heartbreakingly vulnerable, bravely honest, and always infectiously danceable for everyone, no matter who you are, or where you’re from.
