Numthong Gallery at Aree

Additional Information

Numthong Gallery was founded in 1997 by Numthong Sae Tang. Initially it was a small gallery located in the Bangkok Housing Cooperative Building on Thoetdamri Road, Dusit, Bangkok. For all 15 years of its operation, the gallery has maintained its reputation as one of the leading commercial galleries in Southeast Asia. Despite its rather limited area, Numthong has provided exhibition space for a wide range of artists, both the emerging and the internationally-acclaimed figures. It is also a meeting point for co-exhibitions by local and international visual artists. In some years, the gallery hosted as many as eight exhibitions annually — a proof of its recognition among the audience, artists, students, as well as local and international collectors.

Our artist selection process is based on competence, originality, uniqueness and creativity shown in the works. Many chosen artists have been widely recognized to the present day. Apart from conventional genres in contemporary art, the gallery also promotes other art forms, including short films, photography, and mixed media.

Numthong Gallery has now relocated to Aree 5 (North) Phahonyothin 7, Phahonyothin Road, Phyathai, Bangkok, under the name “Numthong Gallery at Aree”. The new building features over 130 square meters of exhibition space and a small library for art research in a convenient environment. Still maintained is our commitment in presenting works of art imbued with the power of creativity and consistently supporting new generations of quality artists. The gallery also serves as a venue for sharing and discussions among curators, art collectors, writers and critics on creativity-related subjects, as well as provides information on various cultural activities.
