Welcome to Maduro, a listening lounge and bar devoted to preserving the virtuosity of the classics. Fashioned after owner Mr. P’s storied musical past and present, #TiaraFridayClub is a weekly live music night that pays homage to Tiara Supper Club, the iconic jewel of the Shangri-La in the 80’s where Mr. P performed at the peak of his career. In the spirit of saving the best for last, each evening will see a star-studded line-up of Singapore’s top chanteuses and crooners perform alongside their musician counterparts.
Start and get through the mid-month hump with one of the most velvety, smooth vocals in town, belonging to none other than one Richard Jackson. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by some of Gospel music’s finest; Singapore-based since ‘08, quickly becoming a regional jazz circuit favourite; and coupled with billings in international jazz festivals from France to Russia – it is his undisputed combination of incredible tone with intelligent phrasing and heartfelt intensity that keeps Jackson in constant demand. Match that with the #MenOfMaduro—Weixiang Tan on the piano, Ben Poh on bass, and Wen Ming Soh and Aaron James Lee on drums—and a convincing vocal trombone by Jackson himself… Maduro, prepare to get your hearts utterly won over. Again, and again, and again and again and all over again.
