Born into a family of very musically-inclined people, the Grammy-winning virtuoistic bassist/vocalist and musical chameleon known professionally as Thundercat has had his sonic footprint ingrained deeply across records spanning genres all across the spectrum – from legendary thrash metal outfit Suicidal Tendencies albums, Kendrick Lamar’s landmark statement To Pimp A Butterfly (he netted a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Performance for his work on the track “These Walls”), Flying Lotus’ highly-lauded, conceptual projects, and Travis Scott’s recent alleged magnum opus, Astroworld.
Apart from his immaculate work on those blessed enough to collaborate with him, Thundercat himself has released 3 critically-acclaimed solo albums to this date. The LA native’s latest offering, Drunk, is a 23-track epic journey into the often hilarious, sometimes dark mind of the man and finds a few of his friends joining him along the way including Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington, and Brainfeeder mastermind Flying Lotus. The album was cited in countless “Best of 2017” lists and was named the “BBC 6 Music Recommends Album of the Year 2017,” with word traveling to late night TV bookers who invited him to perform cuts on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
No stranger to major stages like Coachella and Glastonbury as well as high profile slots at the Hollywood Bowl and several global headline runs in recent years and undeniably massively responsible for jazz’s renaissance with his infamous (though not exclusively) West Coast posse of Kamasi Washington, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Collective Minds couldn’t be more excited to bring Thundercat live!
