Experience Montepulciano heritage at Zafferano

Enjoy an exclusive wine dinner at Zafferano featuring Avignonesi, the leading winery in the Montepulciano area of Tuscany. At the helm is Virginie Saverys, an ex-lawyer who followed her love and passion for fine wines to the vineyards of Avignonesi, and transformed it into the largest biodynamic winery and a leader in biodynamic viticulture in Italy.

 

A selection of canapés paired with the fruity and fragrant 2014 Toscana Bianco IGT offers an appetite whetting prelude to the four-course meal, followed by a succulent roasted langoustine with torrito almond cream, risotto, and guanciale crisp. The appetiser is accompanied by the 2018 IL Marzocco Cortona Chardonnay DOC – zesty with a long and fragrant aftertaste.

 

Pliant and smooth on the palate with earthy and oaky notes, the winery’s flagship wine 2015 Grandi Annate RSV Vino Nobile DOCG is served with braised pigeon tortellini, roasted morel mushrooms and herb-infused fava beans. The third course is a luscious Sher wagyu beef tenderloin, with foie gras crust, heirloom potatoes, and marsala jus. A perfect pairing for these hearty flavours is the medium-bodied 2017 Desiderio Merlot, offering dark berry notes that lead into a velvety long finish.

 

End the night with a contrast with mascarpone, trigona gold honey, wild strawberry, and cardamom. Accompanying the dessert is the Avignonesi Spritz, a unique spin on the classic Italian cocktail.

 

The Avignonesi Wine Dinner is available at Zafferano at 6.30 PM on 28 March 2021. It is priced at $168++ per person, and an early bird price of $148++ per person.
