An Epicurean Pop-Up – Osaka Cocina Nikkei

Internationally acclaimed Nikkei restaurant, Osaka, debuts its first collaboration appearance in Asia and Singapore at NAMI Restaurant & Bar.

 

Born from the emigration of the Japanese to Peru in the late 1800s, Nikkei cuisine is influenced by the rich local culture and way of living. This distinctive culinary style marries the simplicity and
precision of Japanese culinary techniques, including exceptional knife skills, with indigenous Peruvian ingredients. Occasionally enjoyed in the early years, seafood also rose to become a staple with the introduction of raw and citrus-cured adaptations, alongside umami-rich misos and dashi broths that have assimilated into the native cuisine.

 

Delivering a multi-sensory experience, Osaka’s culinary team merges millenary Japanese techniques with the best Peruvian flavours and specially flown-in Latin American produce in a 7-course “Nikkei Experience” dinner tasting menu.

 

Exclusively for the duration of the pop-up, a selection of five Peruvian-inspired cocktails crafted by Adam Bursik, Bar Manager of Origin Bar, will be presented at NAMI Restaurant & Bar to complement Osaka’s bold creations. Concocted with ingredients imported from Peru such as Pisco and agave, the libations teem with bright notes, embodying the colourful Peruvian culture.

 

The Osaka Cocina Nikkei Pop-Up will be held at NAMI Restaurant & Bar from 21st to 27th January 2019. The 7-course “Nikkei Experience” dinner tasting menu is priced at $188++ per person, and the exclusive Peruvian-inspired cocktails are priced at $24++ each.

 

This event is in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Singapore and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
