The Hong Lim Series: Line and Fragments marks a new and ongoing series that Chan has embarked on as he surveys the connection, or rather disconnection, between the physical manifestation of the site and the symbolic presence of the person the park is named after. Come celebrate the artist’s solo exhibition and join Chan as he elaborates on his inspirations, conceptualisation and artistic process in this artist’s talk.

The artist’s talk will be a 45min presentation by Chan, followed by a 15min Q&A discussion; held in conjunction with his solo exhibition. During the talk, audiences will be presented with current ideas surrounding the subject of painting, such as ‘The Quasi-Subject’ as adopted by the art critic Isabelle Graw (publisher of contemporary German art journal, ‘Texte zur Kunst’, and professor of art history and art theory at Hochschule für Bildende Künste–Städelschule). Chan will then focus on explaining how these ideas are conveyed through his works.
