A first solo exhibition, Life In Pop, for French artist, Auguste, with Ode to Art gallery this March 4th. With a unique urban angle, the enigmatic artist fuses pop culture references of past and present in his Street Art-inspired works. Terming his oeuvre ‘Generations’, his edgy and vibrant works conjure memories of previous eras and revolve around a central theme of pop culture icons, conflating celebrities, cartoon characters and other iconic commercial logos to create a striking social commentary. Auguste uses a variety of materials for his works, such as the unusual medium of aluminium along with digital collage and acrylic paint. He also incorporates an automotive varnish (Aston Martin) to give his pieces a modern glossy finish, and as a nod to the characteristics of modern urban culture.
