IES Charles Rudd Distinguished Public Lectures 2023

How will Singapore’s transition to a net-zero future impact our lives? What are the challenges and opportunities that all of us should be aware of? How can we contribute to this sustainable future?
Themed “Transitioning to a Net-Zero World,” the Charles Rudd Distinguished Public Lectures centre on crucial issues related to the world’s worsening climate crisis. The shift toward a net-zero world involves significant challenges and will only be successful through the combined efforts of individuals and organisations worldwide.
The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) is organising this event jointly with Singapore Polytechnic to encourage engineers, businesses, students and the public to take more significant steps towards a sustainable future for Singapore. This aligns with the IES Green Plan 2030, an engineering-focused action plan designed to support the Singapore Green Plan 2030.
The distinguished keynote speaker for this year’s lectures is Mr. Lim Tuang Liang, Government Chief Sustainability Officer, Ministry for Sustainability and the Environment. The event also comprises panel discussions where sustainability practitioners and experts will provide insights on two topics: “Empowering Net-Zero Transition through Green Plan and Circular Economy” and “ESG and Green Finance: Latest Strategies, Trends and Future Outlook”.
The session will conclude with a series of learning journeys including the Grundfos APAC Industry Demo Truck that features world-class sustainable water technologies.
This event is organised in commemoration of World Engineering Day (WED) for Sustainable Development.
Join us to be part of Singapore’s journey towards a more sustainable world.
