To commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Agnès Varda, the upcoming Secret Movie Saturday screening by Jakarta Cinema Club will be all about the legendary Belgian-born French filmmaker. Varda was a director, artist, and photographer who had an important role in the development of the French New Wave film movement of the ‘50s and ‘60s. Her films mostly revolve around feminist issues and other social commentary in her distinctive experimental style.
As mentioned in the program’s title, the audience will only know the film once the lights are dimmed in the auditorium. Don’t miss the discussion after the screening to learn more about Varda.
Saturday, March 7 at Studio Sang Akar, Tebet, South Jakarta, from 4pm onwards. RSVP your spot here.
