La Fête du Cinéma (The Cinema Festival) was held for the first time in 1985 by National Federation of French Cinema (FNCF), French Ministry of Culture, and the union of cinema professionals. In present day, La Fête du Cinéma is held all over the world, including Indonesia. There are four major themes for this year’s La Fête du Cinéma: Histoires d’amitiés (Stories of Friendship), Pour se faire peur (horror stories), En forme pour l’été (Summertime Stories), and Hommage à Michel Legrand (Tribute to Michel Legrand). The Jakarta screenings will be held at four different locations: Institut Français Indonesia (IFI) Thamrin, IFI Wijaya, Kineforum, and Kinosaurus. Other than Jakarta, La Fête du Cinéma will also be held in other cities/provinces across Indonesia: Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bali, and Makassar.
