Underground Legends

Crowning 15 years of live music in Hong Kong, The Underground returns in 2019 with Underground Legends, an evening to celebrate the bands who have performed at least six times on Underground stages.

Openers Airtub have the unique honour of being one of the group’s that performed at Underground 1, the very first showcase in April 2004. Over the years, they’ve reformed for several milestone Underground shows purely for the love of music. That they’re still alive and kicking is testament to their friendship and strength as performers.

Next up is Brothers of Roadkill, the bizarrely named group led by singer Adrian Fu before he launched his Golden Music Award-nominated solo career. Formed from Fu’s idea to make a rock band without any six string guitars, the Brothers use bass and keys as melodic anchors in their kick-ass blues tunes, and even made it on to Clockenflap festival’s 2011 bill.

Then it’s time for more old favourites in the shape of Thinking Out Loud, fronted by none other than The Underground’s founder and MC, Chris B. They promise the same brand of catchy, sing-along rock tunes they introduced to the city at famed Wan Chai venue Joe Bananas back in 2004.

The inimitable The David Bowie Knives headline the show, having performed an amazing TEN times at The Underground since Underground 37 in 2007. Their hook-driven rock songs meet somewhere between Oasis, The Stooges and Eagles of Death Metal, or, as one Underground reviewer put it, : “an insane, profane hurricane”.

Doors open 8pm and first band is on at 8:30pm. Come on down and share the love!
