Mahka presents BEAUTIFUL CONTRADICTIONS: A RECYCLING CONCEPT OF FASHION, MUSIC AND ART in collaboration with urban photographers Michael Kistler and Trish Darling releasing on 21st February. A project that aims to integrate fashion, art and music in a two part series.
We know of fashion with two different extremes; fast fashion which arises from mass consumerism, and minimalism which more often than not lacks excitement. But is there a middle ground where you can buy in-trend exciting clothes all the while being environmentally conscious.
Mahka teams up with locals to bring you an exciting upcycled collection made from previously loved donated clothes by you, which Mahka will repurpose. Just like with music, your clothing will be remixed with others pieces, giving it new life and energy.
The first part of the series is a photographic exhibition inspired by street graffiti where Hong Kong based photographers Michael Kistler and Trish Darling will showcase a collage of photographs to demonstrate how art can evolve, taking many shapes and forms.
At the event Mahka will collect your clothes and run a workshop to show how you can repurpose your clothes to maximise their potential.
For the second part of the series Mahka will collect the donated clothes which will be taken, transformed and recreated into a new collection to be sold at Mahka.
