Justice Centre’s Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize 2020 has extended their submissions deadline to 17 March 12pm.
Justice Centre Hong Kong has announced that the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize is back for its sixth edition this May 2020. Open to all Hong Kong-based and Hong Kong born visual artists, the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize 2020 invites creatives to submit work in any medium exploring the theme of local or international human rights. In addition to playing a pivotal role in unearthing artistic talent in the city, the HKHRAP has successfully engaged the civic imagination and established itself as an important cultural platform in Hong Kong.
Since its launch by Justice Centre Hong Kong in 2013, the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize has encouraged meaningful dialogue about the state of human rights both at home and abroad. This year’s Arts Prize introduces two new categories: Student category submission open to Hong Kong-based secondary or high school students and the Goethe Award ’45 Seconds for Human Rights’ which will be awarded to a short film or video of exactly 45 seconds. The winner of this year’s Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize will receive HKD35,000.
This year’s Arts Prize opening reception will be held at the Goethe Institute on 12 May and the exhibition will be open to the public from 12 May to 6 June 2020.
