Pride at Eaton 2022 – Queer Kin, Love Walks In will focus on chosen family, a form of non-biological kinship common in the queer community, consisting of people fulfilling the roles of support and comfort, which make queer people feel seen, validated, and loved. Eaton HK will honor 53 years of Gay Pride with a month-long celebration of self-pride, diversity, intersectionality, solidarity, and community. This year’s Pride at Eaton includes film screenings, panels, workshops, exhibitions, rainbow cocktails, music, drag performance, graduation ceremony, prom party, a “Staygaytion” package, and more.
Partnering with queer organizations, artists and changemakers, Pride at Eaton will encompass a diverse range of collaborators on the queer spectrum in the intersections of sex, gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, body figure, ability and social status. Collaborators include lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, gender fluid, intersex, asexual people, as well as drag performers, crossplayers, migrant workers, plus-sized people, people with disabilities and people from other marginalized groups.
Proceeds of ticket sales after deducting expenses will be donated to two queer organizations: Gender Empowerment, a Hong Kong group that supports transgender people and their families, and Migrants’ Pride, a group promoting the rights and welfare of queer local migrant workers.
GagaOOLala, an Asian video streaming platform dedicated to queer media will provide limited time access to their site for the audience of Pride at Eaton.
